When it comes to managing batch identifiers in Metrc-connected GrowFlow Wholesale accounts, it's essential to grasp the diverse terminology associated with batch identification. Whether you are a cultivator or manufacturer, familiarity with these identifiers ensures accurate tracking and compliance. This guide sheds light on critical terms and explores dynamic fields that are instrumental when labeling batches in GrowFlow.

Harvest Batch Identifiers
Referred to as the Harvest Batch Name in GrowFlow
Referred to as the Source Harvest Batch Number in Metrc
Dynamic Field for labeling: {{HarvestBatchName}}
For cultivators, a harvest batch identifier is assigned to a group of plants harvested simultaneously. This then serves as the harvest batch identifier to inventory packages created from the harvest batch, indicating the specific harvest from which the cannabis product originated.
A Harvest Batch Name can only be assigned in GrowFlow when harvesting plants. If a custom Harvest Batch Name is not defined during the harvest entry, GrowFlow will automatically assign the name as the plant's strain name plus a unique number.
Note: The Harvest Batch Name becomes uneditable once the plants are harvested. If there is an error in the name, contacting Metrc is necessary to reverse the harvest for re-harvesting. This process can only be done if inventory has not yet been packaged from the harvest.

Production Batch Identifiers
Referred to as the Production Batch Name in GrowFlow
Referred to as the Source Production Batch in Metrc
Dynamic Field for labeling: {{ProductionBatchName}}
When cannabis materials are combined or processed in a unified production process, forming a new entity that necessitates QA testing, a Production Batch is created. Upon its creation, a unique Production Batch Name should be assigned as the identifier. This name not only specifies the batch from which the sample was drawn for testing but is also inherited by any children packages created from the production batch as well as its QA results. This establishes a link to any subsequent transferred packages.
A Production Batch Name can only be assigned when using the Package tool to combine or process inventory in GrowFlow, by checking the This product requires QA re-testing box towards the bottom of the Packaging form. If no custom Production Batch Name is entered, GrowFlow will automatically assign the Production Batch Name as a unique number plus the packaging date.
Note: The Production Batch Name becomes uneditable once the Production Batch is packaged. If there is an error in the name, re-packaging the batch is necessary to reassign the correct Production Batch Name.
