You may receive packages at your store that arrive as pre-packaged units, but use a bulk unit of measure in Metrc/BioTrack.
To sell pre‑packaged items linked to bulk packages, first create products in GrowFlow using the Each unit of measure. Then, enter the amount of usable cannabis in each item in the unit weight field. This value will be deducted from the package in your store’s Metrc or BioTrack inventory whenever an item is sold. Managing unit weights accurately in GrowFlow is essential to keep your Metrc or BioTrack packages aligned, as misalignment can cause compliance issues or point‑of‑sale errors.

Next, assign the item‑based Each product to your bulk package on the incoming transfer. GrowFlow will use the product’s unit weight to automatically calculate the number of items in the package.
NOTE: If your Metrc or Biotrack package uses grams as the unit of measure, the product in GrowFlow must have a unit weight in grams. If the package uses ounces or pounds, the product must have a unit weight in ounces. For example, if a Metrc or Biotrack package weighs 16 ounces, the GrowFlow product must reflect the precise conversion, since one ounce equals 28.3495 grams.
The unit weight of each item-based product is also used to enforce purchase limits at the register.
Resolving Gram-to-Ounce Conversion Errors
If a product's unit weight doesn't divide evenly into a Metrc package's total weight, adjustments are necessary. For example:
1. Go to the Inventory page and select Products. Search for the product you want to update, then click the three‑dots icon and choose Edit.
2. Update the unit weight so it matches the Metrc package exactly. For example, change 28 grams to 1 ounce.

Packages with Trade Samples
If your product’s unit weight is correct but the total quantity in an incoming package can’t be evenly divided into units because a trade sample was included, you can accept the package in GrowFlow as a bulk product using grams as the unit of measure.
After that, use the conversion tool to switch to the item‑based Each unit of measure. For example, if you receive a 115 gram package containing 3.5 gram prepacks and a 3 gram sample, activate the package as a bulk product, then convert 112 grams into 32 prepacks of 3.5 grams each, leaving 3 grams in the original package.
