Migration Checklist
Before proceeding, ensure you have completed every step of the initial Migration Checklist.
Transition Checklist
Log in to your GrowFlow account, then click here: https://go.growflow.com/ny/Metrc/TransitionChecklist
Note: The Transition Checklist needs to be completed independently for each of your GrowFlow accounts.
✅ Transition Checklist Step 1: Enter Metrc API Key
1. Copy the Metrc STS Admin user's API key from Metrc.
2. Paste it into the designated box in Step 1 of the checklist.
3. Mark the step as complete.
Need help finding the key? See Steps 1-4 under Global API Key in our How to Find and Use Your API Key article.
✅ Transition Checklist Step 2: Audit Your Metrc Data
You do not need to manually enter your Locations, Strains, Items, Plants, or Inventory in Metrc. We will handle the migration of this data.
If you have already begun entering other data (e.g., Employees) into your Metrc account, ensure that all data is accurate.
Some of this data will sync into GrowFlow once the migration is complete and the connection to Metrc is established.
✅ Transition Checklist Step 3: Audit Your GrowFlow Data
Transition Import Summary
While logged in, check your Transition Import Summary here: https://go.growflow.com/ny/export/metrc
This report shows all of your current GrowFlow data that will be inserted into Metrc. While we have made backend updates to improve data acceptance, some items may still require cleanup.
1. Scroll through each tab to verify your data.
2. If you see any line items with warnings, check the common issues list below for fixes. If you can't find the answer, please reach out to us in chat!
Note: Warnings that require action will display in the Products, Inventory, and Plant Batches tabs of the Transition Import Summary.
The Strains and Rooms tabs are for verification only; ensure that data is correct as it will migrate directly to Metrc.
Audit your current Plant and Inventory counts, as all of these items will require Metrc tags post-migration.
All currently open harvest batches will be migrated to Metrc as an inventory package of Whole Wet Flower.
Common Data Issues and Fixes
Issue | Description | How to Fix |
Unsupported Metrc Category | A product or template has an inventory type not referenced in Metrc. | Option 1: If you no longer carry it, delete it from the Product Catalog.
Option 2: If you still carry it, delete the product/template, then re-create it with an applicable inventory type.
(All types currently shown in the GrowFlow Product Creator are Metrc-supported.) |
Product requires strain but strain is not set | Some Metrc categories are hard-coded to require a Strain, but one is missing. | Locate the Product/Template in your account that has no strain shown. Select it and either Delete it (if not using) or click Edit to set a strain. Select a Strain from the dropdown and click Save. |
License does not have permission to create this type | Per Metrc/OCM, your license type cannot create or obtain this inventory type. | Inventory: Transfer it out of this account to a license/account that can obtain the inventory. (Do this before connecting to Metrc!) If you physically do not have the inventory, use the Audit tool to remove it.
Product: Locate and delete the product in your Product Catalog. |
Product requires package size but does not have one set | End-product Metrc categories require a unit package size. | Locate the product in the Packaged tab of your Product Catalog (it will have a dash in the Weight column). Delete the product, then re-create it. |
Metrc expects a weight-based UOM | Metrc does not recognize the current Unit of Measure (UOM). | Locate the product in the Packaged or Bulk tab. Delete the product, then re-create it. |
Unpack Mature Plants | Metrc does not support Mature Plants in its External Inventory Transfer process. We must migrate these as Veg or Flowering Plants. | Option 1: Transfer them out of your account before migration.
Option 2: Locate the mature plants on your Grow Overview and unpack them back into the Veg or Flowering stage. |
✅ Transition Checklist Step 4: Import Tags into GrowFlow
Once you have received enough tags, both physically and digitally:
1. Click Import Tags in your Transition Checklist.
2. We will automatically import them for you.
✅ Transition Checklist Step 5: Schedule Your Migration Day!
You are almost done! Click the link in your checklist to schedule your GrowFlow migration. Our migration spots are filling up quickly, so reserve your preferred date ASAP!
Important:
On the day of your migration, you must pause all account activity and refrain from accessing, modifying, or making any changes in both your GrowFlow and Metrc accounts. Please plan accordingly.
Compliance Deadline:
December 17th is the final day for getting your plants and inventory into Metrc to remain compliant!
✅ Transition Checklist Step 6: Prepare Your Orders
The day before your transition, move any open orders to either the first column (Orders) or the last column (In Transit) on your Orders board. This prevents you from having to re-label them after migration.
What to Expect After Your Transition
Harvests: Any open harvest batches were automatically closed and converted into Whole Wet Flower inventory packages so Metrc could accept the data.
Find them on your Inventory Overview.
Use the Cure Wet Flower tool to enter your dry and waste weights.
Plant Batches: Any plant batches without a room assignment have been assigned to the Bulk Inventory room. Metrc requires all items to have a Location (Room) assignment.
Once your connection to the Metrc API is live, you may see some workflow changes in your account. As you resume your operations and workflows in GrowFlow, please don't hesitate to reach out to us in chat. We're here to help you through this transition!
