Your designated Metrc STS Administrator will receive Metrc credentials beginning November 7th, which means licensees will begin to get access to Metrc. Getting a head start on the steps below is crucial for a smooth migration.
✅ 1. Complete Training in Metrc Learn
Training is a mandatory prerequisite to receiving and accessing your Metrc credentials. If you haven’t already, the STS Administrator and any necessary employees must register with Metrc Learn and take the New Business Training.
✅ 2. Log In to Metrc ASAP!
Log in to Metrc: https://ny.metrc.com/log-in
You need to immediately access and verify your new Metrc accounts.
Accessing Multiple Licenses
If you hold more than one license or are a Registered Organization or Microbusiness, your credentials should give you access to all Metrc accounts associated with your licenses.
Microbusiness/RO Account Separation
Metrc is providing separate accounts based on your operations (e.g., a Cultivation account and a separate Manufacturing account).
Heads Up
If Metrc has split your single Microbusiness license into multiple Metrc accounts, we will need to separate your account in GrowFlow as well.
Important Next Step
If this applies to you, please open a new conversation with our chat support team or email [email protected] and provide the license numbers for each of your new Metrc accounts. Our team will then reach out to schedule a call to prepare your GrowFlow account(s) for migration.
Where to Find License Numbers
You can find each of your Metrc accounts and their corresponding license numbers right below your username in Metrc.
✅ 3. Create Your Employees in Metrc
Your team needs to be set up as Employees in Metrc.
1. Go to Admin > Employees in Metrc to add each employee.
2. Adding them here will invite your employees as users to your Metrc account(s).
3. Ensure you grant the correct and necessary permissions for each user and select every license they should have access to.
✅ 4. Place a Tag Order! (Critical Step)
We cannot migrate your data until you have enough plant and package tags to cover your beginning inventory!
Order Enough
You must have enough tags ordered and received to cover all of your plants and inventory on your transition day.
Pro Tip
Order more than you need right now! This will cover any expected increases in plant or inventory counts before and during the migration.
How to Order
Please follow the steps outlined in Metrc's Guidelines for Beginning Inventory to place your tag order.
Allow Time
Tags are printed and shipped via UPS, which typically takes 5–7 days. Do not receive your tags digitally in Metrc before they physically arrive, as doing so acknowledges that the tags are in your possession.
DO NOT BEGIN TAGGING
You must wait until after your migration to tag your plants and inventory. During the migration process, the Metrc tags you ordered will be auto-applied to your plants and inventory. Once this process is complete, you will then begin tagging your plants and inventory based on the Metrc tags assigned to each item.
✅ 5. Audit Your Inventory
Accuracy is critical! Before migration, you must reconcile your physical inventory with your GrowFlow data.
Verify Counts
Ensure your physical plants and inventory perfectly match the plants and inventory recorded in your GrowFlow account. You want to ensure this list and available quantities are as accurate as possible in GrowFlow when we are ready to migrate your data to Metrc.
Save your tags!
After your migration, you will assign your newly received Metrc plant and package tags to this imported inventory list. If there are any extra plants or inventory listed in your GrowFlow data that don't physically exist, those assigned tags will be wasted and cannot be reused.
❌ You DO NOT Need To:
Add your Locations, Strains, Items, Plants, or Inventory in Metrc. These will be handled by us during your migration.
Note on Terminology: Metrc's Locations are referred to as Rooms in GrowFlow, and Metrc's Items are referred to as Products in GrowFlow.
Next Steps & Deadlines
It is MOST important that you complete the above steps immediately. Our final day for migrating your accounts to Metrc is December 12th, so continuous preparation is essential. We are currently finalizing scheduling details and will be in touch soon to provide further instructions and schedule your migration date.
Once your GrowFlow account is connected to Metrc, you will see changes in GrowFlow to accommodate Metrc's workflows and inventory types. Don't worry—we have extensive experience integrating with Metrc in other states and are here to help you navigate these upcoming workflow changes.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to us via chat if you have any questions!
