Note: Per Metrc Bulletin OK-IB-0041, clones must be created as immature plant batch packages. Because of this, Metrc does not allow that package to be created directly from a plant while it is designated in the Mother growth phase. Clone batches must be created from a plant in the Vegetative phase. If your mother plant is currently designated as Mother in Metrc, follow this sequence to create your clone package:
1. In Metrc, change the plant's growth phase from Mother to Vegetative.
2. In GrowFlow, create your clone package using the steps below.
3. In Metrc, change the plant's growth phase back to Mother.
Step 1: Create Immature Plant Batch Packages
1. Click ➕ New atop the Clones, Seeds column on the Grow Overview
2. To create clones, select Immature Plants as the plant starter type. Select Seeds if you're creating seeds.
3. Select a room. Optionally, select a table.
4. Optional: Choose a new strain
If you don’t have plants of the same strain, type in and select the applicable strain. Otherwise, clones or seeds inherit the mother plant’s strain.
5. The plant list shows vegging or flowering plants currently active in your account. If creating clones or seeds from a specific mother plant, use the filters or search bar to locate them.
6. In the #New column of the mother plant's line item, enter the number of clones to create from that mother plant.
Notes:
Per-batch limit: Above the #New column, set a limit to divide clones into batches. For example, if you enter 550 clones to create from one mother plant and set a per-batch limit of 100, GrowFlow will automatically create 5 batches of 100 and 1 batch of 50.
This setting is particularly useful if you are using clone trays with a specific number of clone spots per tray. By setting the per-batch limit to match the number of spots per tray, each tray will be considered a separate batch and will be associated with its own package tag.
7. Finish by clicking Create
9. After creation, Immature Plant Batch Packages are stored in the Packages column on the left-hand side of the Grow Overview
Step 2: Unpack Immature Plant Batches
In Metrc, this process is known as "planting". During this step, the Immature Plant Batches are progressed to the Clones, Seeds column while maintaining association with the source package tag.
1. In the Packages column, hover over an Immature Plant Batch and click the green arrow to unpack it. To unpack multiple strains within a room or an entire room, click the topmost green arrow.
2. Select the Immature Plant Batch(es) to unpack
Note: Select the entire quantity of the immature plant batch to unpack to avoid duplicate tag errors in Metrc. If clones or seeds from the batch need to be destroyed, you can do so before or after unpacking, using the Destroy function.
3. Select a room. Optionally, select a table.
4. The Use source package ID as plant batch name box is checked by default, as Metrc requires association with package tags. Keep this box checked.
5. Finish by clicking Un-Pack
6. After unpacking, the immature plants will be moved to the Clones, Seeds column on the Grow Overview and associated with the source package tag ID.
What Can Go Wrong
Clone package rejected for a plant designated as Mother in Metrc
This happens when the source plant is marked as Mother directly in Metrc, not just in GrowFlow. It's expected behavior under OMMA guidelines, not a bug to work around in GrowFlow. See the Note above for the required Metrc-side sequence.
Duplicate tag error when unpacking an Immature Plant Batch
This happens when only part of an Immature Plant Batch's quantity is selected during unpacking. Select the entire quantity of the batch to avoid this error. Clones or seeds that need to be destroyed can be handled before or after unpacking using the Destroy function.
Clone package creation fails or times out for very large batches
Metrc's API has processing limits when handling more than roughly 300 items at once. Use the per-batch limit field in Step 1 to divide a large clone count, for example 550, into batches of 300 or fewer.
