GrowFlow's enhanced inventory management system empowers businesses by facilitating seamless inventory movement across multiple storage locations. These enhancements enable efficient inventory distribution, enhance inventory tracking, and ensure adherence to state traceability regulations.
The following steps will guide you through manually moving inventory from your default Storage Location to rooms set up as Sellable, Non-sellable, and Waste.
Move Partial Packages Between Storage Locations
Step 1: Locate the package
To move inventory from one Storage Location to another, first locate the package you want to move inventory from. To do this:
Navigate to Inventory.
Select Packages.
Use the Search bar or browse through the list of packages to find the package you want to move inventory from.
Once you've found the package, select it to open the Package Details pane on the right side of the screen.
Step 2: Open the Move Inventory modal
Once you have located the package, select the Move Inventory option in the Package Details. To do this:
In the Package Details pane, locate and click the kebab (three dots) button to open a dropdown menu.
Select Move Inventory from the drop-down menu.
Selecting Move Inventory will launch the modal that will guide you through splitting the package's inventory between multiple locations.
Step 3: Specify Inventory Quantities
After selecting Move Inventory, you will see a modal that lists your Storage Locations, the Location Type, and the Quantity in that location. Enter the desired quantity of units or weight to be moved to each Storage Location you want to allocate inventory.
In the example below, we are allocating 25 units to the Sales Floor (Sellable) location and 75 units to the Vault (Not Sellable) location.
You can split the quantity of a package across as many Storage Locations as you wish. To add a new location to distribute to, click the Add New Inventory Record button in the bottom left of the modal.
The total quantity moved should match the overall quantity of the package. If the sum of the storage location quantity is less than the total, it will display how many units are unallocated.
Step 4: Review and Confirm
Once you've entered the quantities for each location, review your updated inventory distribution.
If everything is correct, click the Save & Close button to complete the inventory move.
Step 5: Finalize Inventory Move
Upon confirmation, the inventory quantities will be adjusted accordingly for the package and the specified Storage Locations. The Package Details pane will reflect the updated inventory distribution by updating the stock bar graph.
The quantity in the storage location that is “Sellable” is now available to be sold from the Cashier screen. See the sections below for the configuration options for handling when the inventory in the Sellable location goes to zero.
System behavior when “Disallow Sales of Out of Stock Package IDs” is Off
In Settings > General, there is a setting to Disallow Sales of Out of Stock Package IDs. When this setting is disabled, the system will allow sales from a package after the quantity has reached zero.
When adding an item on the Cashier screen, the system will display a warning message, but the sale can continue. See the example below.
When the sale is completed, the inventory for that Sellable location will be negative.
This can be resolved by moving inventory from the Non-Sellable location to the Sellable storage location as described above.
System behavior when “Disallow Sales of Out of Stock Package IDs” is On
In Settings > General, there is a setting to Disallow Sales of Out of Stock Package IDs. When this setting is enabled, you can not sell a product when inventory is zero in the Sellable storage location.
If a budtender attempts to add an item and the inventory in the Sellable storage location reaches zero, an error message will be displayed and the item will not be added to the cart. They will be blocked from adding the item. See the example below.
There are two options to resolve this issue:
Move inventory to the Sellable storage location as described above.
Enable the Allow Inventory Movement During Order setting.
Allow Inventory Movement During Order
To enable the ability to move inventory during an order, enable the Allow Inventory Movement During Order setting in Settings > General.
This setting is only available when the Disallow Sales of Out of Stock Package IDs setting is enabled.
When this setting is on, if inventory in the Sellable storage location reaches zero, when adding the next item to the cart, a modal is displayed informing the budtender they are overdrawing the inventory from the sellable storage location. See the example below.
If they select “Done”, the system will automatically move the inventory from the Non-Sellable storage location to the Sellable one so the order can proceed.
Requiring a PIN to Allow Inventory Movement During Order
There is an optional setting for this feature, that when enabled, requires that a PIN be entered to move the inventory automatically. The PIN entered must be that of a user with Organization Admin, Admin or custom permissions with full Inventory management permissions.
When this setting is on, a modal will be displayed requiring a PIN to be entered when the move is initiated from the order.
Once the PIN is entered, the item will be added to the cart. Upon completion of the sale, the inventory will be moved from the Non-Sellable location to the Sellable one.
