Think of the Sub-Lot function as taking a part of inventory from a package and separating it into a new package. With this tool, you can split a package into two or more packages, move an entire quantity into a new package with a new Metrc tag, or pull inventory from a parent package to create a new child package. Let's take a look at how each of these actions would work.
Note: If QA results are expected to follow any sub-lotted inventory, we suggest that you wait until testing is complete in Metrc, and you see Pass as the testing status in GrowFlow.
Splitting a Package into Two Packages with Identical Weights
To get started, locate the item on your Inventory Overview page and click Edit > SubLot
1. Enter half of the original package weight into the Units/Weight to Deduct Per Item field
2. Enter 1 as the # of New Inventory
3. Confirm the next tag to use
4. Click Split
Now the original package has been split into two. The original package keeps the same tag, and the new package will receive a new Metrc tag ID.
Sub-Lot the Entire Package into a New Metrc Tag
If the Metrc tag that is assigned to the package is lost or damaged, you can use Sub-Lot to move the entire package quantity into a new Metrc tag.
1. On the Inventory Overview, click Edit > SubLot on the package's line item
2. Enter the entire quantity of the package into the Units/Weight to Deduct Per Item field
3. Enter 1 as the # of New Inventory
4. Confirm the next tag to use
5. Click Split
Once finished, the original package will have a new quantity of zero and the moved quantity will receive the new Metrc tag ID.
Sub-Lotting to create a Child Package from a Parent Package
Use Sub-Lot to create a child package from the original package.
1. On the Inventory Overview, click Edit > SubLot on the package's line item
2. Enter the units or weight of the new package that you are deducting from the Parent into the Units/Weight to Deduct Per Item field
3. Enter 1 as the # of New Inventory
4. Confirm the next tag to use
5. Click Split
The new child package will be created, and the original Parent package will receive a new available amount with the units or weight of the child package deducted.
Splitting a Package into Multiple Packages at Once
Use Sub-Lot to create multiple packages of the same number of units or weight from a Parent package.
1. On the Inventory Overview, click Edit > SubLot on the package's line item
2. Enter the number of units or weight to deduct per each child package
3. Enter the number of packages you are creating
4. Confirm the next tag to use, as well as then assign the rest of the tags to follow
5. Click Split
Each child package will be created with a new Metrc tag ID, and the original Parent package will have a new available quantity with the child package units or weight deducted.
Nicely done!
