Retail: Package Label Overview

A review of the Package label options available in GrowFlow

Written by Ryker Daniel

Package labels are a convenient way to manage inventory, and they make checkout easier on your budtenders. In conjunction with a scanner, barcodes eliminate common manual entry mistakes and generally speed up inventory counts. In this article, we will go over how to set up a package label and the various options Growflow allows on your product label.

Package Label Overview

1. Click on Store Settings.

2. Select Print.

3. The Package Label subsection is at the top of the page.

Formatting the Package Label

1. Dimensions: This is where you will input the physical dimensions of the label you are using.

  • Width - Enter the width (in inches) of the label here.

  • Height - Enter the height (in inches) of the label here.

If you would like to switch the orientation of your label from landscape to portrait, swap these height and width values.

2. Margins: This sets the print margins on each side of the exit label.

  • Top - This setting controls the top margin of your exit label. It is recommended to start with a 0.1-inch margin and increase in size if needed.

  • Bottom - This setting controls the margin at the bottom of your exit label. It is recommended to start with a 0.1-inch margin and increase in size if needed.

  • Right - This setting controls the margin on the right side of your exit label. It is recommended to start with a 0.1-inch margin and increase in size if needed.

  • Left - This setting controls the margin on the left side of your exit label. It is recommended to start with a 0.1-inch margin and increase in size if needed.

3. Font Size: Enter the font size you would like to use for the label. We recommend starting with a font size of 8 and moving up or down as needed from there!

Package Label Package ID Options

Depending on your setup, you can choose how the Package ID appears on package labels. It may be displayed in Barcode format or as a QR Code.

Barcode

When this option is selected, the Package ID barcode will be displayed on the package label.

1. Small Barcode: When this option is enabled, the height of the barcode is reduced to support printing on labels that are 0.5 inches high.

2. Remove Package ID and Store Prefix: When this setting is enabled, the label will display only the values. The text “Pkg ID” will not be printed alongside the package ID, and “Store” will not be printed alongside the store name.

3. Center All Text: When this setting is enabled, all text on the package label will be centered.

QR Code

When this option is selected, the Package ID will be displayed on the package label in QR Code format.

1. Include Package ID Text: When this option is enabled, the Package ID will be included on the package label.

2. Push QR Code Left: When this option is enabled, the QR Code will be displayed on the left side of the package label. If the option is disabled, the QR Code will appear centered on the label.

3. Push Package ID Text Right: This will push the package ID text to the right side of the package label.

Package Label Information Options

Depending on your state’s regulations and compliance standards, you may be required to include certain information on your product labels. Let's review the available options.

1. Rotate: Rotate the text on the label by 90 degrees.

17. Test Results QR Code: Display a QR code that you can scan to pull up the Test Results of the Product.

18. Highlight Test Results: Enable this setting to make the Test Results stand out on your label. The Test Results will be bolded and outlined in a box.

19. Total Terpenes Text: Display a Total Terpenes Text field on your Package details. You can use this field to enter any Terpene information you would like to associate with the Package.

20. Product Category Text: Display a Product Category Text field in your Product Category profiles. You can use this field to enter any message that you would like to include on the package label for all products under a specific product category.

24. Package Text: Display a Package Text field on your Package details. You can use this field to enter any message that you would like to include on the Package Label for that specific Package.

25. Disclaimer Text: This non-product-specific field allows for the input of state disclaimers that would be mandated to appear on all product labels.
