Retail: Reusable Package ID's

Managing Reusable Package IDs

Written by Taylor Price

Overview

GrowFlow now offers greater flexibility for retailers who handle non-traceable inventory, frequent restocks, or vendor-specific SKUs. You can now reuse the same Package ID for multiple inventory arrivals, provided they are for the same product.

This feature simplifies inventory management for CBD, accessories, and non-cannabis items where unique traceability isn't required by the state.

The Golden Rule: Same Product Only

To maintain your inventory integrity, the system follows one strict rule: You can reuse a Package ID as many times as you like, but only if the Product remains the same. * Allowed: Package ID SKU-001 for "Blue Dream 1/8th" (Batch A) and Package ID SKU-001 for "Blue Dream 1/8th" (Batch B).

  • Blocked: Package ID SKU-001 for "Blue Dream 1/8th" and Package ID SKU-001 for "Sour Diesel 1/8th."

How to Use Reusable IDs During Intake

When receiving inventory on the Transfers page, follow these steps:

  1. Enter the Package ID: Type the ID into the Package ID field.

  2. Auto-Fill Detection: If the ID already exists in your system, GrowFlow will automatically fill the Product field with the matching product.

  3. Visual Confirmation: You will see a Yellow label (⚠️) next to the Package ID. Hovering over this icon will show a tooltip confirming the match.

Handling Errors

If you attempt to change the auto-assigned product to a different one while using a duplicate Package ID, the system will prevent the save.

  • The Error: "Duplicate Package ID with a different product cannot be saved."

  • The Fix: Either change the product back to match the original ID or generate a unique Package ID for the new product.
